I was fully expecting this to be rock based on the aesthetics here, and indeed, that's what it is. Only reason I picked it up is because I was looking for info online in case it was a decent tradable, and I was really surprised to see the band was on Metal Archives. I suspected (correctly) that they weren't in the database based on anything from this album, but since the disc seemed to be scarce, I bought it just in case there were any metal influences.
Nope.
Pretty much exactly what it looks like, very '90s styled/alternative-ish hard rock. Other than noting the left field cover song choice of Madonna's "Secret" and pointing out that "Bitchin'" is quite Nirvana sounding, I'll pass on any further commentary as there's no metal here and no claim of such.
I was very curious about the band's later material, as they switched to a more serious looking plain font logo and seemed to have darker lyrical themes and album artwork. I briefly skimmed through the music from their latest 2014 album Rising of the Sword online. There are some outright metal songs and overall they've heavied up. Many songs are still very hard rock rooted, although they've shed the alternative influence and sound more like one of the bands trying to do a contemporary take on Guns N' Roses. The lighter songs remind me quite a bit of Avenged Sevenfold musically, basically hard rock with some metal influences in the guitar solos and harmonies. Hopefully that CD will show up in the bins, as the heavier stuff on it seems like it would be definitely worth a buck or two. As for this, not my thing.
